A Flock of Seagulls

A Flock of Seagulls je anglická new wave kapela, která vznikla v Liverpoolu v roce 1979. Skupina, jejíž nejznámější sestava zahrnovala Mikea Scorea, Aliho Scorea, Franka Maudsleyho a Paula Reynoldse, dosáhla vrcholu svého úspěchu na žebříčcích v raných 80. letech. Kapela je známá svými mezinárodními hity, jako jsou "I Ran (So Far Away)", "Space Age Love Song", "Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)" a "The More You Live, the More You Love".

V roce 1982 vydali své debutové album A Flock of Seagulls, které bylo komerčně i kriticky úspěšné. Jedním z jejich největších úspěchů bylo, když jejich videoklip k písni "I Ran (So Far Away)" získal velkou popularitu díky vysílání na MTV během tzv. druhé britské invaze. V roce 1983 kapela získala Grammy za instrumentální skladbu "D.N.A.". Jejich pokračující úspěch v roce 1983 zahrnoval vystoupení na významných festivalech a turné s kapelou The Police.

Navzdory změnám v sestavě a poklesu popularity v pozdějších letech 80. let, A Flock of Seagulls pokračovali v tvorbě a vystupování. V roce 2018 se původní členové znovu sešli k nahrání alba Ascension s Pražským filharmonickým orchestrem. Tento projekt zaznamenal pozitivní ohlasy a vedl k dalšímu orchestralnímu albu String Theory v roce 2021.

Nedávno kapela oznámila vydání nového alba Some Dreams, které je plánováno na prosinec 2024. Toto album bude obsahovat nové písně a představí současnou sestavu kapely, včetně Mikea Scorea na vokálech. Díky svému výraznému stylu a inovativnímu přístupu k synthpopu a new wave zůstává A Flock of Seagulls ikonou hudební scény 80. let.
