Folks work all day until the work's all done
And if young 'uns are getting' married
Well the word sure gets around
Mighty quick in an in between town

Like greentop lumber yard or Susie's IGA
Framin' nails, butterscotch, and hellos by the pound
Things you get in an in between town
There's folks in big cities miles from either end
And if they drive by us we'll wave just like they're friends
But we prefer a slower way of life from day to day
It's all we've ever known and wouldn't change it any way
In an in between town barber shop
Where old men chew the fat and boys still get flattops
But at Carolyn's beauty parlor that's where gossip's thrown around

At the good shepherd church where my family sang and prayed
Friendly saints and sinners they can all be found
Gettin' along in an in between town
