It was a hard time It was a long line It was a steep climb With too many kids to handle She got her kids raised And her nerves frayed As her life blazed through her eyes Made out of candles Those lumber trucks kept rolling south With their loads of pines and rumbling sounds As fast as they could grow, they cut them down Fast as they could go, the kids left town And I wonder If there's somewhere The pines reach way up to the sky And go on and on there The sun wasn't so low It was summertime But the trees were making shadows of September In comes the hard freeze Early this year How did she end up here? She can't remember He said the reason he was carrying on Was that every bit of love he had for her was gone So was it just the blink of an eye or just dragging on? She never did know what it was that they wanted And I wonder If there's somewhere The pines reach way up to the sky And go on and on there
