Faces

Faces je anglická rocková kapela, která vznikla v Londýně v roce 1969. Skupina byla založena členy kapely Small Faces po odchodu zpěváka a kytaristy Stevea Marriotta, který odešel založit Humble Pie. Zbývající členové Small Faces - Ian McLagan (klávesy), Ronnie Lane (baskytara, vokály) a Kenney Jones (bicí a perkuse) - se spojili s kytaristou Ronniem Woodem a zpěvákem Rodem Stewartem, kteří přišli z Jeff Beck Group, a nová formace se přejmenovala na Faces.

Jednou z unikátních vlastností skupiny Faces bylo, že Rod Stewart měl podepsanou samostatnou smlouvu na sólovou kariéru, zatímco kapela byla u Warner Bros. Členové kapely často přispívali na Stewartova sólová alba jako najatí hudebníci, což vedlo k napětí, když byli Faces vnímáni jako Stewartova doprovodná kapela. Přestože kapela neměla jednoho hlavního skladatele, často spolupracovali na písních pro svá alba. Průlomovým úspěchem se stalo album A Nod Is As Good As a Wink... to a Blind Horse z roku 1971, které se umístilo na druhém místě v britské hitparádě a obsahovalo jejich první hitový singl Stay with Me.

V roce 1973 během nahrávání čtvrtého a posledního studiového alba Ooh La La došlo k napětí v kapele, což vedlo k odchodu Ronnieho Lanea. Lane byl nahrazen baskytaristou Tetsu Yamauchi. Skupina pokračovala v turné do roku 1975, ale v prosinci téhož roku oznámila svůj rozpad. Po rozpadu Faces se členové vydali na různé kariérní dráhy. Rod Stewart pokračoval v úspěšné sólové kariéře, Ronnie Wood se stal členem The Rolling Stones, Kenney Jones se připojil k The Who a Ian McLagan se stal session muzikantem.

V roce 2012 byli Faces společně se Small Faces uvedeni do Rock and Rollové síně slávy. Přestože kapela zažila jen střední úspěch ve srovnání s některými svými současníky, jako byli The Who nebo The Rolling Stones, měla značný vliv na pozdější rockové revivalisty. Jejich zvuk byl inspirací pro punkové kapely jako The Damned a Sex Pistols.
