Commodores

Commodores je americká funková a soulová skupina, která vznikla v roce 1968 v městě Tuskegee ve státě Alabama. Skupina byla původně známá pod názvem ´The Mystics´ a později se přejmenovala na ´The Jays´. Následně v roce 1971 přijala název ´Commodores´, aby tak vyjádřila svůj cíl stát se hudebními "veliteli" a vystupovat na světové scéně.

Skupinu tvořili talentovaní hudebníci, kteří se stali ikonami funkové a R&B hudby. K nejznámějším členům patřil zpěvák Lionel Richie, který se později stal úspěšným sólovým umělcem, a také Thomas McClary, Milan Williams, Ronald LaPread, Walter "Clyde" Orange a William "WAK" King.

Commodores dosáhli velké popularity v 70. a 80. letech 20. století a vydali několik hitů, které se staly hudebními hymnami té doby. Mezi ty nejznámější patří "Brick House", "Three Times a Lady", "Easy", "Nightshift" a "Still".

Lionel Richie opustil skupinu v roce 1982, což znamenalo ztrátu vokálního lídra, ale Commodores pokračovali v dalších letech se změnami v sestavě až do současnosti. Navzdory odchodu Richieho se jejich hudební odkaz udržel a dodnes jsou považováni za jednu z nejvýznamnějších funkových a soulových skupin své doby.
