Anything Box

Anything Box je elektronická/synth-popová hudební skupina, která původně pochází z Patersonu v New Jersey, ale nyní sídlí v Long Beach v Kalifornii. Skupina byla založena v roce 1986 a je nejznámější díky svému singlu z roku 1989 Living in Oblivion. Kromě toho získali pozornost také tím, že v roce 2003 vydali album výhradně ve formátu MP3. V současné době je jediným členem kapely Claude Strilio, ale dříve skupina zahrnovala členy jako Dania Morales, Paul Rijnders a další.

Skupina Anything Box je známá svými melodickými, synth-driven tanečními beaty z počátků a současným zaměřením na fúzi elektroniky a kytar. Skupina je také chválena za svou alba, která obsahují různé druhy uměleckých děl, od olejomaleb po elektronické malby, všechny vytvořené Claudem Striliem. Anything Box vydala řadu alb, EP a singlů a stále vystupuje po celém světě.

Jméno kapely pochází z názvu knihy povídek od Zenna Hendersona, The Anything Box. V titulní povídce mladá dívka představuje svět, jaký by chtěla, tím, že se dívá na prázdné místo mezi svýma rukama. Její učitelka zjistí, že krabice je neviditelná, ale skutečná. Toto přenesení fantazie do reality dobře reflektuje tvůrčí přístup skupiny k hudbě.

Anything Box zažila svůj průlom s albem Peace v roce 1990, které bylo vydáno pod hlavičkou Epic Records. Navzdory úspěchu alba Peace se skupina musela potýkat s problémy při vydání svého druhého alba Worth kvůli sporům s nahrávací společností. Přesto kapela pokračovala ve vystupování a nakonec album sama distribuovala fanouškům.

V průběhu let se Anything Box měnila, pokud jde o členy i hudební styl. Skupina se vyznačuje experimentováním se zvukem, což je zřejmé z alba Elektrodelica, které představilo fúzi tradičních syntezátorů a kytar. Kapela si udržuje věrné fanoušky tím, že neustále přináší nový materiál a koncertuje po celém světě.
